Exercise #4

So to answer the second part of this question first no I do not think that civil disobedience helps the cause of environmentalism and there are a few reasons why I think protesting and putting on these big acts of environmentalism helps. I do not think protesting helps very much because the point of a protest is to try to force the government or other major corporations to take notice of whatever you are fighting for but 9 times out of 10 they are just going to ignore you and continue to go about their business because at the end of the day a corporation only really cares about making a profit well spending as little money to make that profit as it can. That is how we get companies that instead of spending the money on a proper waste filtering system or a better way to deal with their waste they just decided to dump their waste into the ocean instead because it is cheaper to do that than it is to properly deal with it. And the big theatrical stunts that some environmentalists pull are absolutely ridiculous because sure they might get some attention online but as far change goes’ they are not going to change anything and sure a government might adopt a policy to say cut back on none reusable plastics but that is just theater for the cameras though because in reality they will only do the bare minimum to help and of course, most governments will only help if it makes them look better and if it will help the person in charge to get re-elected. Corporations are not going to care about these stunts either because it will not affect them or their bottom line again just the governments if they do decayed to help they will only do the bare minimum such as get rid of plastic straws for paper ones instead but still give your drink in a plastic cup or bottle, Which is almost worse than doing nothing like at that point I would rather have a company just not do anything because at that point it’s almost an insult to anyone that really cares about the environment
